Student wins Bronze Medal at the Commonwealth Games

Exciting news from the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games - Rixon Family on fire!  17 year old Rebecca, 20 year old Connie and mother Rose along with team mate Sharon Callus from Victoria represented Malta and claimed Bronze in the Women's Fours Lawn Bowls.

The foursome, were are part of Malta's 25-athlete team courtesy of Maltese heritage, came to the Gold Coast having never played competitively together. Rebecca and Connie also competed in the pairs events and did Malta and the Sunshine Coast proud!

Rebecca has had a great start to the year, claiming gold medal success in the girls singles, open triples, and open fours disciplines at the Junior State Championships in Bundaberg in January and the bronze Commonwealth medal is another title added to her impressive success.

While competing at the Games is a milestone in its own right, to do so alongside your sister and mother is a phenomenal opportunity.

Congratulations to you all!
