Siena College Celebrates Kassie Bromley's PhD Achievement and Groundbreaking Research

Siena College is proud to announce that Kassie Bromley, one of our wonderful Guidance Counsellors, has been awarded her PhD. In her work as part of the Uni SC Youth Mental Health research team, Kassie's thesis, titled 'From Research to Practice: Shaping Adolescent Brain Health Through Health Enhancing Behaviour,' explores the intricate relationships between health enhancing behaviours (HEBs) and psychological distress and wellbeing in early to mid-adolescence.

Kassie's research included two LABS papers examining these relationships cross-sectionally and longitudinally. In a comprehensive third study, Kassie translated her findings into practical applications through the creation and implementation of school-based 'Brain Changer' workshops. These workshops aim to educate adolescents on the importance of brain health and its connection to mental health, targeting HEBs to promote overall wellbeing.

The Brain Changer pilot program was a resounding success, laying the foundation for future neuroscience-based workshops in schools. Kassie's thesis also features a first-author publication, with additional chapters currently under review in peer-reviewed journals.

Siena College congratulates Kassie Bromley on this remarkable achievement and her invaluable contributions to adolescent mental health. We are so proud of her achievements and the positive impact she has on our Siena students each and every day.
